Possibility of a 6-Day Holiday Including Chuseok Extended Break? Government Considering Designating October 2nd as Temporary Public Holiday

If the consecutive Chuseok holiday from September 28th to October 1st and the day between October 3rd, National Foundation Day, are designated as public holidays, a total of 6 consecutive days off would be created.

 

An official from the Presidential Office stated in a call with News on this day, "We are currently considering the proposal for a temporary public holiday from the opposition party and are in the process of reviewing it."

 

 

The opposition party proposed the temporary public holiday, which is the first of its kind since President Yoon took office, taking into account economic factors such as promoting economic activities in the region.

 

Furthermore, if the designation of the temporary public holiday is ultimately decided through inter-party discussions, it is expected to be presented as an agenda item in a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Yoon and will be deliberated and resolved upon.

 

 

In the past, during the first year of President Moon's administration in 2017, October 2nd was designated as a temporary public holiday, creating a 10-day extended break plan to stimulate domestic consumption.
