Some people become unusually irritable when they are hungry. They may get annoyed at inconveniences that they would normally tolerate in their daily lives. In such cases, instead of blaming the person's personality, it is essential to pay attention to the physiological changes due to hunger. In reality, people tend to become more irritable when they are hungry.

Why Do You Become Irritable When Hungry?
Considering these factors, establishing a regular eating routine is crucial. Opting for one meal a day or skipping a meal for the sake of dieting is not advisable.

The Relationship Between Hunger and Emotions

To understand the impact of hunger on emotions, an international research team from the UK and Austria conducted a study with 64 adult participants. Over a period of 21 days, participants reported their emotions and hunger levels five times a day. The data was then analyzed to examine the correlation between hunger levels and emotions. The results showed that as hunger levels increased, anger and hypersensitivity reactions became more pronounced, while joy actually decreased. When hungry, individuals reported feeling about 37% more irritation and 34% more anger than usual, but joy was experienced about 38% less. The decrease in internal energy sources due to hunger leads to the secretion of stress hormones, contributing to emotional instability.

The Importance of Eating Habits

Eating too quickly to alleviate hunger is not advisable, as it may lead to overeating. Slow consumption allows the brain to recognize that a sufficient amount of food has been consumed, resulting in a feeling of fullness. Ideally, taking about 20 minutes to thoroughly chew food during a meal is recommended. After eating, the body should feel light and comfortable, indicating an appropriate amount has been consumed.

Additionally, attention should be given to the composition of meals. Foods high in sugar, liquid fructose, flour, and trans fats should be avoided as they are not satiating and can be addictive. A well-balanced meal that includes protein, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, and calcium from all five food groups is recommended.

Considering these factors, establishing a regular eating routine is crucial. Opting for one meal a day or skipping a meal for the sake of dieting is not advisable. Encouraging consumer participation and eliciting positive responses while managing brand reputation are also integral aspects. Maintaining health and a positive image through proper eating habits and brand management is crucial.
