Lately, I've noticed a decline in my enthusiasm, and even the smallest things seem to get on my nerves. I initially attributed it to the change in seasons, but persistent feelings of sadness and anxiety have sparked concerns about my health. Could it be that the so-called "male menopause" has found its way to me?

Additionally, if there is a perceived decline in sexual function, taking a more proactive approach in the bedroom may be beneficial.

 

Reduced motivation, lethargy, feelings of sadness, and anxiety are all considered part of male menopause. This phenomenon occurs as men age and experience a decrease in testosterone levels, similar to various symptoms seen in women during menopause. Among these symptoms, the most prominent are psychological changes. Men entering menopause often undergo psychological shifts, easily getting angry over trivial matters, feeling depressed, and experiencing anxiety and restlessness. Ignoring these emotions can lead to depression, making it crucial to be attentive to such signs.

 

Diminished libido is another common issue during male menopause. A decrease in sexual desire is accompanied by a reduction in erectile function. To maintain a normal erection, testosterone needs to dilate blood vessels and ensure proper blood flow to the penis. However, as testosterone levels decrease with age, this process is hindered.

 

Sudden weight gain can also be a symptom of male menopause. Testosterone helps maintain the body's basal metabolic rate, increases muscle size, and inhibits the accumulation of visceral fat. As testosterone secretion decreases with age, basal metabolic rate and muscle mass decline, while visceral fat accumulates, leading to weight gain. This decrease in basal metabolic rate makes it challenging to lose weight, emphasizing the importance of regular exercise and dietary management.

 

Therefore, it's essential not to dismiss male menopause lightly. Neglecting symptoms not only diminishes the quality of life but can also accelerate the aging process, resulting in various health issues, both physical and mental. If negative emotions persist unintentionally, it's advisable to engage in various activities for personal enjoyment. This can be an effective way to reduce the secretion of adrenaline hormones and increase serotonin in the brain. Numerous activities that require minimal time and expense are available, so exploring and enjoying them is encouraged.

 

Additionally, if there is a perceived decline in sexual function, taking a more proactive approach in the bedroom may be beneficial. While bedtime activities may not elevate hormone levels, they can slow down the rate of decline. Weight management should not be overlooked, as continuous weight gain can lead to an increase in abdominal fat. Maintaining a healthy weight and waist circumference through regular exercise and dietary management is crucial.
