Coffee and Health: Optimal Daily Coffee Intake for Kidney Health.

by OK2BU 2023. 11. 9.

Recent research has revealed that drinking a cup of black coffee daily, without added sugar or creamer, can be beneficial for kidney health. A research team from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands analyzed the medical records of 80,000 Dutch individuals to investigate the impact of coffee on kidney health.

Coffee and Health: Optimal Daily Coffee Intake for Kidney Health.
The findings showed that with each additional cup of black coffee consumed per day, kidney health improved.

The findings showed that with each additional cup of black coffee consumed per day, kidney health improved. However, consuming more than five cups did not yield additional benefits. This indicates that anywhere from one to four cups of coffee per day is most effective for promoting health. Previous studies have also suggested that individuals who are generally healthy and consume three to five cups of coffee per day may reduce their risk of kidney stones.

Moreover, it is known that moderate coffee consumption can lower the risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and liver cirrhosis. However, for individuals experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, it is advisable to limit coffee intake or maintain it at one to two cups per day.

Professor Mariana Helmers, the lead author of the study, emphasized, "It's important to note that the health benefits were observed only in black coffee without added sugar or creamer, and further research targeting diabetes patients is needed."

These research findings were presented at the "Nutrition and Chronic Kidney Disease" symposium held at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Remember, maintaining an appropriate level of coffee consumption can contribute to the promotion of kidney health.
