As the intense summer sun fades and autumn arrives, many people may think they can use less sunscreen compared to the summer months. However, it's actually crucial to continue applying sufficient sunscreen during the fall season.

Sunscreen: Even More Important for Autumn Skincare.
Consistent sun protection is essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Why is there an increase in UV exposure during autumn? This is because there are often clearer skies in autumn compared to summer, allowing UV rays to reach the ground without being filtered through clouds. Additionally, the angle between the sun and the Earth decreases, bringing the surface of the Earth closer to the sun, further influencing UV exposure. Moreover, UVA rays, which have a consistent intensity throughout the year, can have harmful effects on the skin. UVA accounts for over 90% of the UV rays that reach the Earth's surface, and it can penetrate through clouds and even glass. Due to their longer wavelengths, UVA rays can deeply penetrate the dermis, causing issues like pigmentation and premature aging, as well as triggering freckles and age spots. Additionally, in the autumn, the skin tends to become more sensitive and dry, which means its natural defense against UV rays is relatively weaker.

To fully benefit from the sun protection provided by sunscreen, it should be applied 30 minutes before going outside. It's also important to evenly apply sunscreen all over the face. The PA rating on sunscreen indicates the level of protection against UVA rays, with more plus signs indicating a higher level of protection. Therefore, it's crucial to pay close attention to the PA rating.

Don't skip sunscreen in the fall – use it correctly to shield your skin from harmful UV rays! Consistent sun protection is essential for maintaining healthy skin.
